Route assignment powered by the lane-based Network model — where congestion actually occurs, not link-level approximation.
Stochastic User Equilibrium, User Equilibrium, Fixed Route, Incremental, and All-or-Nothing — only in SIDRA.
Assign seven distinct vehicle and transport classes independently — from light vehicles to trams to user-defined modes.
Lane-level, not link-level
SIDRA ASSIGN helps with assessing traffic management schemes that may result in Route changes — an important addition to the capabilities of SIDRA INTERSECTION as a popular Traffic Impact Assessment tool.
Where conventional macroscopic analytical traffic assignment tools use link-based models that have difficulty in treating intersection delays, SIDRA ASSIGN works at the level where congestion actually occurs — individual lanes where capacity, delay, queues and stops are modelled in detail.
Route travel times capture the effects of lane blockages on upstream lane capacity reductions and the resulting constraint on downstream arrival flows. These features of the SIDRA Network model, integrated with detailed modelling of intersection capacity and performance and signal timing algorithms for intersections, interchanges, corridors and networks, provide a unique micro-analytical traffic assignment tool in a single software environment.
Ideal for small-to-medium Networks — the critical areas where the detailed lane-based Network model determines the quality of the traffic assignment process.
Five methods to match your project
Fixed Routes can be used in conjunction with other methods — useful for Buses, Trams, Trucks or Bicycles. Background approach movement volumes can also be included.
Stochastic User Equilibrium
ExclusiveEquilibrium assignment with probabilistic Route choice preferences based on drivers' different perceptions of travel times (costs).
User Equilibrium
Deterministic assignment to implement Wardrop's first principle: no user can reduce travel time by switching Routes.
Fixed Route Assignment
User-defined Route volume proportions for known Route choice patterns.
Incremental Assignment
Progressive loading of demand volumes to observe congestion build-up.
All-or-Nothing
Baseline loading to the lowest travel time (cost) Route.
Multimodal Route choice analysis
Unique traffic assignment by 7 different Movement Classes: Light Vehicles, Heavy Vehicles, Buses, Bicycles, Large Trucks, Light Rail/Trams and six User Classes are available. Routes are formed by connecting Network Site Movements for each Movement Class, allowing for Fixed Route specifications by the user in a powerful way.
Light Vehicles
Standard passenger cars and light commercial vehicles
What SIDRA ASSIGN delivers
SIDRA ASSIGN uses Route travel times determined from detailed analysis of intersection delays using the SIDRA lane-based Network traffic model as an integral part of its assignment calculations. Full model fidelity — no simplification applied due to the high processing efficiency of the SIDRA analytical models.
You can now use the micro-analytical SIDRA Network model for detailed analysis of critical Network areas using Origin-Destination (O-D) Trip Matrix data from macroscopic strategic planning software. SIDRA ASSIGN will determine movement volumes using time-proven models for all types of intersections, interchanges and pedestrian crossings (signalised, roundabout, sign control) in one software.
Special application to enable easy use of pre-built SIDRA Network Templates to model paired intersections, interchanges, two-stage crossings, and alternative intersections and interchanges. SIDRA ASSIGN will determine internal approach movement volumes.
All standard SIDRA INTERSECTION Network outputs — including capacity, level of service, delay, queue length, stop rate, signal timings, fuel consumption and emissions — are available as part of the SIDRA ASSIGN results. SIDRA ASSIGN outputs include approach movement volumes by Movement Class, Trip Performance Reports, Trip Route Displays, Fixed Route Displays and Movement Displays by O-D Pair.
Designed for Critical Network Areas
SIDRA ASSIGN is purpose-built for the Networks where intersection-level detail matters most:
